Joe Harrer OTR/L, CHT

Certified Hand Therapist

Joe graduated from University of South Carolina in 1994 with a B.A. in Journalism and from Thomas Jefferson University in 2000 with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy. He went on to obtain his certification in hand therapy in 2006. After graduation he worked with a company in acute care rehabilitation, sub-acute rehabilitation, mental health and outpatient therapy. After one year he focused 100% of his work life on upper extremity injuries. The next 20 years were spent treating people from all walks of life with a wide variety of injuries. Joe has experience treating patients who have suffered burns, in need of wound care, work related injuries, amputee’s, sports injuries, tendonitis, ligament sprains, muscle strains, fractures, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, dupuytren’s disease, nerve and tendon injuries, to name a few. Joe also takes a lot of pride in his splinting skills as well. He can make splints on demand, same-day. 

He constantly attends continuing education courses to keep up on the latest treatments and surgical procedures in his field. He prides himself on his knowledge of conditions and his treatment skills to remediate these injuries to allow his patients to achieve the highest level of function possible and return to their normal daily lives, healthy and happy.

When not at work, Joe is very dedicated to his family. He enjoys coaching his kids in a variety of sports, such as, soccer, basketball, and flag football. He loves spending time with his family whether it is attending sporting events, going to the beach, or traveling. He is very engaged in his children’s physical and mental development.
